Dec. 24. 2021 -- The first confirmed death from the Omicron variant in the U.S. was a reinfection. Harris County health officials also said he faced a higher risk for severe complications because of underlying health conditions and being unvaccinated. Most new cases are the mild Omicron variant.

Coronavirus can be spread by people who don't have symptoms. The CDC recommends wearing a mask even after isolation is over.

The field was named after Don Faurot in 1971. Don Faurot was also responsible for hiring Dan Devine in 1958 when he was the Athletic Director,
